Getting to Liverpool

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (www.liverpoolairport.com) is a small regional airport just 11 km from the city centre and is connected directly to many European cities by Easyjet, Flybe, KLM, Ryanair and Wizz Air.  Long-distance travellers may find it easiest to fly with a Skyteam Alliance airline via Amsterdam, from which KLM has several flights a day direct to Liverpool Airport. A taxi journey to the city centre takes about 20 minutes at a cost of about £15, and there is also an express bus service to the city centre every 30 minutes.

Manchester International Airport (www.manchesterairport.co.uk) is a large international airport with three terminals, about 80 km from Liverpool.

There will be a PIANC representative at Manchester Airport railway station on Sunday 9th May and Monday 10th May between 10:00 - 16:00.

After arriving at Manchester Airport please follow the signs or take the internal shuttle bus to the airport railway station. At the station ticket office buy a return ticket to Liverpool Lime Street and the train times are indicated on the departure signs. Be sure to board a direct train to Liverpool and the PIANC representative will be on the platform to assist you.

Trains run every hour from approx 0400 (1000 on Sundays) to 2200, with a journey time of about 60 minutes (www.nationalrail.co.uk).

Alternatively there is a 24-hour express coach service to Liverpool city centre every hour, except for peak traffic hours, with a journey time of about 90minutes (www.airportbycoachmanchester.co.uk).

Delegates who wish to spend time in London may find it easiest to travel from London to Liverpool by train from London Euston (www.thetrainline.com).  Direct trains take about 3hours.

All train services arrive at Liverpool Lime Street Station in the centre of the city, a few minutes taxi ride from the Liverpool Convention Centre and the Congress hotels.
